Oleksandr Onishchenko is a famous Czech artist of Ukrainian origin. Winner of “The Masaryk Academy of Art award” of the Czech Academy of Arts named after the first President of Czechoslovakia TG Masaryk in Prague for creative contribution to the development of culture of the Czech Republic and for strengthening international relations in the socio-cultural sphere, the annual award “The Franz Kafka Medal “and medals named after the Czech writer Franz Kafka from the Union of Czech Cultural Figures for the most valuable contribution to the development of Czech culture.
In 2000, Josef Nalepa personally presented Oleksandra with “The Key of Prague” Medal, an award and the “Key from Prague” medal from the Union of Czech Artists and Sculptors for achievements in the development of the socio-cultural sphere of Prague.

Alexander is an innovator, he always expressed an internal protest that coincided with, or, conversely, went against the social and cultural life of the 80-90s and today. He denied the postulates of the classical school and was in search of special approaches. In this search, he found the depth of the Black Canvas.
Alexander’s painting was purchased as a gift to Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II. In addition, his paintings are in the collection of the Odessa Museum of Western and Oriental Art, in the private collection of Baroness Jana Germenis-Hildprandt in the Czech castle Blatna and in the Embassy of Ireland in Prague.
